What Is mumcp?
mumcp is a WordPress plugin that turns your website into an AI-controllable platform. Instead of clicking through the WordPress admin dashboard, AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini can directly create pages, write posts, upload media, manage menus, configure SEO metadata, and design Elementor layouts — all through natural language instructions.
The plugin implements the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for connecting AI models to external tools. When you install mumcp, your WordPress site exposes 207 tools that any MCP-compatible AI assistant can use. Think of it as giving your AI assistant hands — it can reach into WordPress and actually do things, not just talk about doing them.
The Problem We Solved
WordPress powers over 40% of the web, but managing it is still overwhelmingly manual. Content teams spend hours in the admin dashboard: creating pages, formatting text, uploading images, tweaking SEO fields, adjusting menus, and regenerating CSS. Even “simple” tasks like updating a pricing page require navigating through multiple screens, waiting for Elementor to load, and carefully editing visual elements.
AI assistants are great at generating content, but they hit a wall when it comes to actually publishing it. You can ask ChatGPT to write a blog post, but then you need to manually copy it into WordPress, format it, add a featured image, set the SEO title, and hit publish. That copy-paste workflow defeats the purpose of using AI in the first place.
mumcp eliminates that gap entirely. Your AI assistant generates the content and publishes it, in a single conversation.
How It Works
The architecture is straightforward:
- Install the plugin — Upload mumcp to your WordPress site and activate it
- Generate an API key — The plugin creates a secure API key for authentication
- Connect your AI assistant — Add your site’s MCP endpoint to Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, or any MCP-compatible client
- Start commanding — Tell your AI to “create a blog post about X” or “redesign the homepage” and watch it happen
Behind the scenes, mumcp exposes a REST API with 207 endpoints, organized into categories: content management, Elementor page building, SEO, media, menus, taxonomies, forms, webhooks, and more. Each endpoint is wrapped as an MCP tool with a clear description, so AI assistants understand what each tool does and when to use it.
What Can Your AI Assistant Do?
Here’s a sample of what becomes possible:
Content Management
Create, edit, and delete posts and pages. Manage drafts, set featured images, handle categories and tags. Bulk-create content — publish 10 blog posts in a single conversation. Clone existing pages to use as templates for new ones.
Elementor Page Building
This is where mumcp really shines. Your AI assistant can read and write Elementor page data directly — sections, columns, widgets, styles, all of it. The wp_build_page tool lets you describe a page in semantic terms (“add a hero section with a CTA, then a 3-column features grid, then pricing cards”) and the plugin generates valid Elementor JSON automatically.
SEO Optimization
Read and write SEO metadata for Yoast, Rank Math, and AIOSEO. Bulk-update SEO titles and descriptions across your entire site. Analyze pages for SEO issues. Set noindex flags on pages you want to hide from search engines.
Site Configuration
Manage navigation menus, widgets, sidebars, and WordPress options. Update your site’s CSS. Monitor site health. Configure webhooks for event-driven workflows.
Free vs Pro
The free version includes 90+ tools covering all the essentials: posts, pages, media, menus, taxonomies, and basic Elementor support. The Pro plan ($9/month) adds advanced Elementor Pro controls, SEO tools, form builder integration, the semantic page builder, template management, global colors/fonts, and multilanguage support for WPML and Polylang.
Why MCP?
We chose the Model Context Protocol because it’s becoming the industry standard for AI-to-tool communication. MCP is supported by Claude Desktop, and adapters exist for ChatGPT, Gemini, and other platforms. By building on MCP, mumcp works with any AI assistant — not just one vendor’s ecosystem.
MCP also provides structured tool definitions, so AI assistants understand exactly what parameters each tool accepts, what it returns, and when to use it. This means fewer errors and more reliable automation compared to unstructured API access.
Getting Started
Installation takes under 5 minutes. Download the plugin from our Get Started page, upload it to your WordPress site, activate it, and generate an API key. Then connect your preferred AI assistant and start building. Our documentation walks through every step, and the MCP Tools Reference catalogs all 207 available tools.
